Drew Barrymore marries in custom-made Chanel

Actress Drew Barrymore said "I do" at the weekend wearing a custom-made Chanel gown, designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

The couple - who are expecting a baby later this year - chose US magazine People to publish official photographs from their big day.

Barrymore's gown included an embellished high collar, three quarter-length sleeves, pleated muslin and organza, accentuated with a black satin belt, and embroidered with tulle and feather flowers on the skirt and train. She also chose Chanel fine jewellery to accessories, wearing the 1.42 carat Fil de Camelia diamond earrings, and a vintage Eventail cuff from Chanel's "Plume" collection, which boasted 14 carats worth of white and black diamonds, and carried a posy of fresh pink roses. Kopelman wore a Tom Ford suit.

Her choice of wedding dress designer is no doubt in part due to her new husband's father, Arie Kopelman, who is a former CEO of the French fashion house.

The nuptials took place on Barrymore's Montecito, California estate, and guests included the 37-year-old actress' best friend Cameron Diaz, who read the E.E. Cummings poem I Carry Your Heart - which she also read at a wedding in the 2005 film In Her Shoes - Reese Witherspoon and comedian Jimmy Kimmel.

Drew herself gushed to People : "The day was perfect. Everyone we love and care about was there. It was as fun and meaningful as we ever could have hoped."

Lagerfeld has much experience in designing for famous brides - last year he designed the vintage-style Chanel wedding dress that then-pregnant Lily Allen wore to the reception of her June nuptials, which featured voluminous bell sleeves and an empire-line cut in sheer white chiffon. He also designed the strapless sky-blue Chanel palazzo-pant suit and matching tailored jacket worn by Princess Charlene of Monaco to her civil wedding ceremony last July, and back in 1999 he created the gown worn by model Kristen McMenamy to her wedding to photographer Miles Aldridge.
