Joanna Sykes out at Aquascutum

It's been a tricky few months for British heritage label Aquascutum. Saved from collapse with a buy-out by Hong Kong-based company YGM Trading last month, the company has announced that design director Joanna Sykes is to part ways with the brand.

Tim Dally, Aquascutum's new chief executive officer told WWD : "It is very early days for us as a new management team, but we will shortly announce structural changes that will focus the business and ensure the longevity of this incredible British heritage brand."

The decision between the two parties was thought to be mutual. Central Saint Martins graduate Sykes was appointed in May 2010 and brought an edgier, more minimalist touch to the brand.

Aquascutum came back to British ownership in 2009 after being bought by British Fashion Council chairman Harold Tillman.

Sykes also designed under her eponymous label, but has not produced a collection since autumn/winter 2010.
