Gisele is still the world's highest paid model

Gisele Bündchen is still the world's highest paid model by a long way, according to Forbes' annual Highest Paid Models list, which was released yesterday. She takes the title for the sixth consecutive year.

Over the last 12 months, the combined earnings of the top ten highest-paid models, totals just under $100 million (£64 million) - with seven of the 10 places on the list being filled by either current or former Victoria's Secret poster girls.

The publication estimates that Brazilian beauty Bündchen - who is rumoured to be pregnant with her second child - raked in $45 million in the year from May 2011 to May 2012, attributing her earnings to endorsement deals with Pantene, Esprit and Versace, as well as her Ipanema sandals line and other products bearing her name. "The ones that are coming up, their model for excellence is Gisele. They're looking at her and saying 'that's what I want to shoot for,'" Ed Razek, chief marketing officer of Limited Brands, told Forbes of Bundchen's combined business and modelling acumen.

Kate Moss made second place with a measly-by-comparison $9.2 million, thanks to ongoing deals with Longchamp, Mango and Rimmel, with Russian model Natalia Vodianova coming in third with $8.6 million. The remaining seven spots belong to Adriana Lima, new addition Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, also a new addition, Lara Stone, Carolyn Murphy and Candice Swanepoel, in descending order.

Heidi Klum is noticeably absent from the list, in which she claimed second place last year, owing to her graduation from model to mogul and thus disqualifying her from consideration. The German model's estimated $20 million earnings over the last year come primarily from television work, as well as her clothing and jewellery lines.
