Roberto Cavalli took to the front row of a very different type of show this past weekend.
As detailed on his blog , the Italian designer and his wife Eva travelled from Italy to witness their youngest son, Robin, receive his diploma of high school graduation from the ACS International School in Cobham, Surrey.
The pair headed to the Home Counties, battling the extended Bank Holiday weekend traffic and equally as dismal weather, after enjoying a short stay in London and a pre-graduation meal at sushi restaurant Zuma.

The day before, Cavalli took to his blog to detail his day in London which involved taking in a Harrods window display in which his self-designed Jubilee crown took centre stage and meeting "one of the most promising young English designers." He gave no name, instead just teasing, "I think I can use some additional help and this young designer, much admired by the press, may be able to help me. I can then devote more time to those lines which will benefit most from my presence! A very interesting interview…" Who could this young British talent possibly about to enter Cavalli's sparkly, leopard print-adorned world be? We'll have to wait and see.
The next day, sitting front row at the ceremony (which took place in a less than glamorous-looking, and probably slightly smelly, sports hall) Cavalli even stepped out of his beloved sandblasted jeans for the occasion, instead donning an "elegant" outfit of "dark gray pants and a tight black jacket with tuxedo type lapels, a nice black shirt with soft leopard inlays and a black satin tie."

Ever the designer, between shedding tears of pride, Cavalli kept a close eye on the sartorial happenings of the day, noting in particular the mortar boards worn by the students. "Their stylish hats are caps with a hard square upper part. These ceremonies are a British classic that until now I have only seen in the movies!"
"Thanks Robin…my love, you gave me great big emotions! Mom and Dad couldn't be more proud," he emotionally signed of the blog post.
Maybe we'll see bedazzled, animal print mortar boards stalking down the next Cavalli catwalk...
